Wedding officiants sometimes wear special attire, if requested by couples. There are two items that are most common: the robe and the stole. Both come in many colors and fabrics, both can be solid-colored or can be decorative. If an officiant is associated with a particular religion, there might be attire that is unique to that tradition. If an officiant is judicial, a black robe might be common. If an officiant is spiritual but not associated with a faith community, robes and stoles are optional and can be designed according to his/her professional image. Rev. Deborah D. Lynch offers many choices in robes and stoles if requested by brides and grooms, and in accordance with the temperature if ceremonies are held outdoors.
